Grunwald is the site of a great battle, a bloody battle, the feat of arms of a army of many thousands, when a huge unified Polish-Lithuanian army (about 29 thousand soldiers) led by Vladislav Jagailo defeated the 21 thousandth army of the crusaders of the Teutonic Order. It is difficult to describe in words how much this place means to the Poles, it’s easier to give a couple of comparisons.
