Neptune Fountain in Gdansk
Neptune, which stands in front of the Court of Artus on Town Hall Square, is considered the immutable ruler of Gdansk and its personification. The well in this place has been located since the middle of the 16th century, but in contrast to the Court of Artus, magnificent and ceremonial, it looked unsightly. The decision to put an exquisite fountain here was made at the beginning of the century, the burgomaster Schachmann became the customer, who wanted to see something like a fountain in Bologna on the main city square. The author of the project was Abraham van der Bloket, who turned the facade of the Artus Court opposite. Continue reading
Kurnitsky castle
In Kurnik there is a castle that attracts many tourists. It was built in the 15th century, but received the present form of the English neo-Gothic style only in the first half of the 19th century. The castle houses a library of 320 thousand volumes, a museum with collections of furniture, sculptures, paintings, military equipment, porcelain and fabrics.
The fortress is surrounded by a large park, founded in the 18th century. – one of the largest dendrological parks in Poland. Continue reading
Historical Museum of Warsaw
On May 28, 2017, after a two-year break, the doors of the Warsaw History Museum reopened to visitors. This event was marked by a bright holiday in the Market Square of the Old Town with performances by officials and a concert by the symphony orchestra. Employees see their mission not only in retelling historical events, but also in creating a strong connection between the modern capital of Poland and its symbols, traditions, and the lives of past generations of citizens.
