Xenge Castle

There are many beautiful sights in Poland, but today Zamek Ksiaz Castle is especially popular among tourists. The palace, built in the 13th century, is located near the town of Walbrzych, which is 80 kilometers from Wroclaw and 460 kilometers from the Polish capital. The time spent on the journey to the Xenge castle will more than pay off with new impressions and emotions from visiting a medieval architectural monument. The first thing that surprises tourists who find themselves here is the impressive size of the palace. Xenge Castle has several hundred luxuriously decorated rooms and halls. Today open for visitors – attention! – 400 rooms of the medieval complex.

In addition to the castle with numerous rooms, tourists are very interested in the park complex with terraces, viewing platforms and a beautifully decorated landscape.
The next thing that attracts the attention of many is the architecture of the castle. On the one side of the palace, the Gothic style is clearly traced, and on the other, obvious elements of the Baroque. This “mottledness” can be explained by the fact that the castle of Ksenzh was owned by different princely dynasties, and each of the owners sought to design and renovate the palace to their liking.

Many Polish castles and palaces have their “supernatural patrons.” In the largest fortress Xenge, the legend of the beautiful Daisy and her lost pearl necklace is alive.
In addition to the castle with numerous rooms, tourists are very interested in the park complex with terraces, viewing platforms and a beautifully decorated landscape. In the summer, Xenge Castle is especially beautiful. This is not only due to flower beds and lawns. The walls of the building have long been chosen by ivy, which every summer is spread on them by a real green “carpet”. Do not be surprised if there are flowers around in the halls around the Xenge Castle. The fact is that in the summer season flower design exhibitions are traditionally held in the palace.

Xenge Castle
But do not think that the palace complex can be visited only in the summer. In fact, the castle is open all year round, with the exception of holidays and a weekend on Mondays (but only during the non-tourist season).

As for the holidays, the palace “rests” every year on the first day of Easter, All Saints Day, on New Year and the first day of Christmas.

For tourists, various excursions are provided at Xenge Castle, the most detailed of which includes exploring the entire castle, park and terraces and has a two-hour duration. There are also half-hour excursions, but during this time the palace will not be able to see completely. If you wish, you can choose an individual excursion (without the participation of a guide), but then you will have to navigate yourself in the castle.

Opening hours in the summer period (April 1 – September 30): Monday – Friday: 10:00 – 17:00, Saturday – Sunday: 10:00 – 18:00.

Opening hours in winter (October 1 – March 31): Monday: day off, Tuesday – Friday: 10:00 – 15:00, Saturday – Sunday: 10:00 – 16:00.

The castle is also closed: the first day of Easter (it depends on the year), All Saints Day (November 1), Christmas (December 25), New Year (January 1).

Entrance: from 39 PLN (cost of a guided tour), from 34 PLN (without a guide). For students (up to 26 years old) and pensioners, preferential tickets are provided. Children under 4 years: free.
